Help

This mobile site is based on our main internet site, www.selftrade.co.uk, with changes to reflect the smaller screen size, different navigation requirements and the focus on securities which you might want to trade immediately.

Mobile security

When you log in to the mobile service no details are stored on your phone unless you choose the 'remember me' option.

The 'remember me' function stores an encrypted version of your account number via a cookie, but it will NOT remember your PIN. You will, therefore, need to enter your PIN each time you log in.

Always be sure to log out once you gave finished your mobile session, as you would when you access your account online.

Icons

You'll see the following icons used on the mobile trading platform; they closely mirror those used on our main website:

Trading via your mobile

You can buy and sell most investments marked with a Tick image via your mobile. For a summary of what's traded when, visit www.selftrade.co.uk/mobile.

You'll see this icon displayed against individual investments when you use the search function to find the ones you are looking for, in the same way as when searching on this website.

The main investments traded via mobile are equities, ETFs, ETCS and Covered Warrants. Funds, Gilts and Bonds, which are generally less volatile, cannot currently be traded via your mobile.

Mobile trades are charged at the same price as then you trade online or by phone. You will, of course, need to pay your mobile phone service provider's internet access charges.

Search

To find an investment enter its symbol (e.g. NFDS for Northern Foods), short name (NTHN.FOODS), ISIN (GB0006466089), or the start of the name.

Where your search brings you more than one option, they'll be displayed in the following order:

UK investments tradable via your mobile
Other results, including non-mobile traded investments and overseas listings.

There is a search field available on each of the mobile pages.

Investment details

Clicking on the security name gives you a shortened version of our investment details ('security information') pages showing:

Trade option - takes you to your account
Add to Watchlist option - enables you to add this to an existing watchlist (Watchlists are set up and amended via the main website, and investments added via your mobile do not have a quantity assigned to them.)
Latest price ('15 min delayed') and change on the day
Charts - intraday, 5 day, 1 month and 1 year options.
(The default view is the intraday chart, where available, or the 5 day chart where it isn't.)
Prices - bid/offer and changes over time
Trade data - for the last three trading days
News - recent news about this security
Analysts' consensus - buy, sell or hold

Click on the 'security data' link to see the 'security details' (such as ISIN, sector, index and market capitalisation) and its 'company profile' (main activities, country, currency, industrial sector and number of shares in issue).

Where you see a column heading which is underlined (e.g. Name), this indicates the information in that column can be sorted (e.g. A to Z, or Z - A, highest to lowest, or lowest to highest).
